Ok, I don't know abou the rest of you but doesn't the kid playing Lois's child look alot like Brandon Routh? He even has the same haircut. He's about 5 years old which is the same length of time Superman has been gone. There using Superman 1 and 2 as a history and Lois and Supes got together in Superman 2. Everything I have read says things like James Marsden's character is a good Father FIGURE to Lois's child, never do they say he is the actual Father. I have heard things about a twist in the movie and I don't know about the rest of you but I bet the kid is Supermans.

I was thinking about that the other day. That wouldn't be a great idea. I'm afraid I would have to ask Superman to take a couple more laps around the earth to fix that.

I think I would like the kid to be Superman's better so Lois and Supes can get married and have a happy ever after a little easier, but on the other hand I like the way Lois and Clark on TV played it better. They had Clark basically waiting till marriage which I think fits his super boy scout mentality better. __________________
lois and clark waited a little 2 long n the series tho
even tho they had a few speed bumps n the road of love:
clark married an evil frog clone that lex luthor made so he could steal lois away and hyptontize her n2 thinking she was a bar singer named dallas
a little strange __________________

Yeah I noticed that topic on other websites and agreed with other people when they said that the child wouldn't be Superman's it would be mortal Clark's child because when they slept together he had no superpowers. So he was just following his heart(and groin) like most people from that time period and much less like a good, christian, farmboy, boy-scoutish type.

I don't superjon meant any disrespect to Christians, dailyplanet, and if you are trying to say we can't talk about religion because it ain't politically correct you have to remember I'm a hillbilly from TN and I happen go to church every Sunday. So don't get me riled or I'm liable to go into singing "Amazing Grace" for an entire post.
I always figured that Clark Kent was raised to Christian standards anyway. I do however get a little nervous when people try to make comparisons to Jesus Christ and Superman. They did that on that A&E Superman special discussing the scene where Clark was tied to a post on the first episode of Smallville to Christ. I didn't appreciate that comparison very much. And there are the people who say that the Superman movie was trying to copy the Biblical story of Christ especially with the line Brando used about sending Earth his only son.
What do you guys think? Do you get offended when commentaries try to compare comic book characters like Superman to Biblical figures. It only bothers me when it's a direct comparison to God. I get a feeling that it might be disrespectful to God. __________________
i agree!!
im not against religeon, i hate all that stuff about taking " in God we trust" and "one nation under God " out
im just not n2 stereotypes
im a bapstist and i believe that if u accept christ as ur savior and lord and ask him 2 4give u of ur sins
then u become a christian
u dont become a christian by living on a farm, or being a boyscout or even going 2 church __________________

Ok, that's cool, but superjon didn't mean anything negative. I personally took superjon's comment in a positive way. It's good if people can see morality and equate it with being a Christian. Not that being moral or even going to church makes you a Christian. It's like my preacher always says, "Joining a Lion's club doesn't make you a lion".
To be honest, I was kind of thinking that you meant to even say the word 'Christian" was going too far, and that you might be one of these keep religion out of everything in the whole world kind of people.
I should have asked exactly which way you were coming from. __________________

The Moses thing didn't bother me as much because I think Gene Simmons (dude from Kiss talking about the Bible that was something) just meant the story had similarities.
I think it's feasible that Joe Shuster and Jerry Seigel might have been inspired by Bible stories at least subconsciously. That's ok, but taking it to the step of comparing Christ to anyone is something I would hesitate to do.
You know some stories have pictures of Christ in them, but they are written for spiritual reasons. Superman is a comic book pop icon, and I rather think any comparisons made by comic book writers aren't to give God glory or lead people to Christ.
Of course I could be wrong. You can't get inside someone's head and know what they are thinking when they write a show.
Chronicles of Narnia does a good job of using characters to represent Biblical themes. The Lion represents Christ, but it's obviously done to illustrate Biblical veiwpoints, and spiritual lessons not just for entertainment which is what Superman's about.
Superman is important but more as a part of pop culture Americana. I would be curious as to what others on the board thought about the A&E special and what they said about Smallville's first episode field scene. __________________

Thanks old mate for sticking up for me and you are right with your interpretation of what I meant, Tim. If you both follow the story of Clark/superman from a young age then it is only natural to assume that, being raised in a farming community in a state like Kansas, Martha and Jonathan would have been raised with good christian values which means that they would have done the same with Clark, adopted extraterrestrial or not. Nice phrases by your preachers boys, lol.

Please don't start singing "swing low, sweet chariot" because the I start to feel like I am sitting in the middle of a bunch of English supporters at a Rugby Test match between Australia and England. That song is their catch cry when the are getting beaten badly by their opposition and dailyplanet I didn't see anything to apologise for it was simply they way your upbringing has taught you react and respond to such a comment. I meant no offence by it and took none when you responded the way you did because we are different people brought up with slightly, different ways of looking at the world which means that we have slightly, different ways of thinking.

I think it's great when people look for religious content and religious messages in movies. It gets people thinking.

What? What's going on here? I thought we were talking about Lois' kid.
On a side note... as a guy dating a single mom with a 5 year old son... I've got some advise for Superman.
1. When she says that she needs some "space", don't mope around the Fortress of Solitude until she calls. Get out there and save the world a couple times.
2. Yeah, you missed the early years of the kid's life... but look at it this way: you missed potty training too.
3. Bear in mind that Ma Kent may not like her. Mothers sometimes have a thing against single moms. I don't get it.
4. Don't listen to Batman about what you to do. That guy is a career bachelor. What does he know? Nothing.
5. Play it cool, swinger. Yeah. She SAYS that she doesn't need you. But she probably feels that the trust has been broken. You'll be in the doghouse for a while but as long as you play it cool, things will work out.
And if things go from bad to worse... there's always Wonder Woman

That was quite funny rabbitspam. Hey I am wondering if the boy is the mortal Clark's son then would his DNA still be a match for Superman's DNA or not?

... sigh... #6. Make sure Lois doesn't know what message boards you post on. For that matter... her spy friends.
Anyway... you'd have to think that the blend of DNA would skew his powers a bit. Like maybe he wouldn't be bulletproof but maybe he could still be super-strong. Or maybe he'd get everything from Superman as well as Lois' ability to get herself into trouble.

dailyplanet, you can DNA from saliva or a hair sample you wouldn't need a blood sample specifically. There was an episode from L & C in which they took a DNA sample but before they started to test it they realised that the boy wasn't Superman's. In that episode Dr Klein concluded that it would take months to decypher Superman's DNA code unlike the rest of us who code only needs a short period of time like a few hours or maybe a day.

Lex Luthor got a strand of Superman's hair on Superman 4 to come up with his super powered bad guy whatever his name was. Was it solar man, no ..radiation man..no sun man..nah well Superman 4 wasn't my favorite out of all the movies anyway, but you get my point. __________________
