i've been around a long time....read alot of the comics and have seen every rendition of supes suit.
My personal opinion...ya...brighter is better...but the more i look at the new suit...the more i begin to like it. the fact is...the suit has had many makeovers throughout history.....this is just another one. get over it.....life is filled with changes......(do you wear the same underwear you did when you were a kid?) no! you changed them.(i hope) have you worn the same shirt and tie to work the last 50 + years? (if so...change!) all i'm sayin is brandon routh is no chris reeves...just as chris was no george reeves....and lets face it....he's ne tom welling either...let the guy have his own identity...and don't ruin the movie for the new generation of kids that should grow up to love superman too. not "OUR" superman....HECK...IF YOU DON'T WANT TO SPEND THE $10.00 TO SEE IT....DON'T. Go dust off the chris reeves version sit down and stay in the past.....I for one...won't make a final judgement until june 2006

Yes, oldschool, you are right change is inevitable and sometimes necessary but what we are saying is maybe this was too much of a change. Subtle changes would have been less painful for his loyal fans. Anyhow I can't wait until the movie comes out next year just to see him back on the big screen.

It's the same old crap? These directors have their own vision of something so iconic, but yet these idiots never followed the characters, the storylines, the embodiment of what made someone like SUPERMAN the legend that it represents to so many fans for so many years. I have been a Superman fan longer than Bryan Singer has been alive, twice over. While you are at it, Bryan, why don't you make superman "swish" while you are at it? What are you trying to do, make Supes prance around like something from the film "the Birdcage". Your vision of Superman sucks, maybe you need glasses!!!! This is such a pitiful follow up to what Christopher Reeve brought to life, what everyone has come to know and love from this icon of american pop culture. And I hope you read this Bryan, because your vision is up your ass. Personally, I hope this movie bombs, so you and other overpriced directors who have no clue what you are dealing with, get brought back down to what works, and what doesn't. Listen to the fans, they will make or break a movie and the directors credibility. And hollywood wonders why people aren't going to the movies? What was wrong with Tom Welling for the part? The writers, along with the cast of Smallville have breathed more life to this legend of pop culture, building up to the present point which filled in lots of questions about the development over the years, with some explanations about the hero's background that were always vague, which gives the reason why the show has been so popular. Then you come on the scene, I liked the X-men movies despite the changes in the lack of colorful costumes that HELPED make them popular in their right with great story writing before you came along. But think for a moment, How much more in revenues the first 2 x-men movies would have brought in, if they had the very costumes they are associated with instead of the black? Look to Spider-man 1&2 to answer that question? How popular would they have been if spidey's costume were changed to drab colors, by breaking away from what made the character so identifiable. This new movie you are making, in my own opinion is a terrible tribute to Supermans ceators, Siegel & Shuster, as well as to the actor who made everyone truly believe a man could fly, Christopher Reeve.

I can live with it but her is something for everyone to think about. The other day when I was having a look at brandonrouth.com and the shots of the new movie my best mate had a look and said "the red isn't bright enough" which is coming from a revhead not a superman fan. Hey well.

Singer tried to blend two Superman timelines that are completely different. I'd say that it didn't work

Singer sucks and the superhero hype forum sucks. The people who are gay have gotten it to where you cant even mention that the suit gives Routh the appearance of being gay without being banned.

I thought you meant he looked happy.
Seriously, though I believe in letting people speak their mind as long as it doesn't involve a lot of cursing. "Freedom of Speech" is still in the Constitution. The last time I checked anyway.
It's definitely not fair to not let every side of the issue be heard, regardless of what your stance is. It's getting dangerously close to communism when speech can be censored for speaking ideas, opionions, or general feelings about subjects just in the name of political correctness. __________________

Here's how I veiw it...
George Reeves brought the whole idea of Superman to T.V., Chris Reeves showed the world on the Big Screen what Superman was really all about, (How he can fly, X-Ray vision, superhearing and bulletproof). Tom Welling introduced an idea of what Clarks H.S. years were all about and showed how his powers developed. Seeing that we have seen different aspects of Superman, like where is suit came from how it was made has also been tampered with. In the Movies he recieved it from Jur-El in his fortress of Solitude in the North Pole. In the series of Lois and Clark Martha Kent made it for him. Now why don't we just let these new ppl give there idea of where it comes from and what it looks like and judge it after the product is finished. Now I am not saying to let them change the suit completely but if they have a good idea to let them run with it. But lets wait until June and see what happens...

East coast. Because we can already see the suit now. There are quite a few pics of it and none of them look good, no matter what the explanation. The thing just looks like crap. And we can already judge it now.

Well, worst case scenario if they already shot the movie ... digitally alter the suit post production. CGI is so good now, we won't be able to notice it.

They still have about six weeks of shooting to go so it will give them about six months to alter it if they want to which I hope they do. I mean I can live with the shield, the high cape, the short shorts and the short boots but I hope they at the very least brighten up the red.

Superjon, I'm quite the opposite. I can live with the current red, as long as the make the shield bigger, and the beltline higher.
