Hey Tim or anyone that can answer this. I was just wondering cause by watching Smallville it seems to me that Lana is a big part of his life and seems so important to him. I have never ready really any of the comics and am just wondering if it is same with comics and is she as big of part in his life in the comics?
Watching Smallville makes me wonder how he ever ends up with lois i mean it seems like he really is in love with Lana and just cant see him and her not being together.
I guess iam saying this because i would rather see Lana and Clark end up together but i know it wont happen. __________________

Lana Lang is a big part of Clark's life in Smallville, but he moves on in his adult life. They are still friends but well you know he marries Lois and she marries Pete Ross who in the comics is a lot different character. Pete ends up working for Lex Luthor at some point and gets this anger complex thing at Superman at least in some of the books I read.
There are so many Superman books published every month it's hard to keep track of exactly where the characters are at any given point. I've got to get most of my books from the 50 cent boxes besides that so I'm a little behind the times. __________________
Yes I agree Tim because we all know that Lana and Clark together in Smallville is ok because we all know who Clark ends up with. I think it is just to have a romance factor in the show to appease the hopeless romantic in all of us. I am curious to know what type of person Pete Ross is in the comics.

A couple of other points about Pete, in the comics he's a white guy for starters. If it had been up to me I would have probably hadSam Jones play an entirely new character in Smallville, and not try to change exising characters quite so much. I think he did do a good job though, and I hate to see him not on the show anymore. I like the idea there is someone who knows Clark's identity and wants to help him out.
In the comics at least way back in the Superboy days before the 1980's revamp, Pete knew Clark's identity and tried to help him keep his identity a secret as much as possible. Clark didn't know that Pete knew his secret though. I've got a lot of old superboy comics, but I need to catch up on the latest issues of Superman to figure out what's happening to Pete now. The last issue I read with Pete in it, he was fighting Superman in some kind of super suit.
If anybody knows if what Pete's current situation is in the comics please let us know. By the time I catch up with Superman comic book purchases it will be the year 2010.
For that matter I'd like to know why Sam Jones quit the show? __________________
i want clark to tell lana about his powers and they can be together finaly, does anybody else agree with me.

If I remember correctly doesn't she stumble across him using his powers and start asking questions much like the way they are going to do the relationship between Clark and Chloe in the up coming season. I mean I used to read comics 15 or 20 years ago and Lana knew about his powers when they were adults in Metropolis. Correct me if I am wrong Tim. In the episode of Lois and Clark with Lana in it she knew about his powers but wanted him to keep them a secret and not get involved with rescuing people which not in his nature because of the way Jonathan and Martha brought him up to help people in trouble. In that episode Lois encourages him to become Superman because that is what she believes he is here for.

Your right about that episode. I remember it an alternate world Clark and Lois had to help him become Superman.
But as far as in the comics I didn't think she ever knew. I pulled out issue Superman 334 that focused on Lana a little bit. It's from the 1970's and in this issue there isn't any mention of Lana referring to Superman as Clark and Superman tells her he can't trust her the way he can Lois and that's the reason it couldn't work between them.
It's possible there could be a storyline somewhere back in the day where she knew for a little while. __________________
Yes well I can't remember the comic number but I can tell you that Lana had just returned from Europe and they way they wrote the scene between them it just made me think that she already knew or at least suspected that Clark and Superman were one in the same person. I think I read that comic in 1988 or 1989 if you want to check it out anyway it may have been before that aswell. Also does D C comics have any back issues on their site with which we check up on it because I think it would be really cool if they had every one of them on there somewhere so anyone who wanted to catch up could have a read.

I dont think DC does. They probably would be afraid it would hurt back issue sales and make back issue prices drop. Even though they don't directly make money from back issue sales the collectiblity factor of comics is part of what keeps it going.
If the story your talking about happened in 88' or 89' I guess that would be after the John Byrne revamp. I need to reread some of those issues.
You know there might actually be a superman cd filled with back issue stories. I recently bought a spiderman cd that had issues 1-500. Personally, though I like to own the actual copy. __________________
Yes a cd like that would be great I will have to keep an eye out for it in book stores and comic shops. I haven't read a superman or superboy comic but anytime I am near a newsagent/papershop I try to have a quick five minute browse through his latest issue to keep up to date with what he is doing.

woahhhh HELL no. clark and chloe just cant be, you cant have the savvy superfriend marrying the main character, it just doesnt work for the plot. pete and lois i can kinda see, though i like her and aquaman better. lana and lex, i just cant even stand the thought of. i hate lex going after lana, because im a big clana fan

Clark isn't supposed to ever have Lana Lang, but i think its cool for this show that they made it happen.
And if Clark ever starts something with Chloe again, even if it is just another one of those "what if" episodes, i am going to shoot my self in the face
