Special Superman Tribute at Big Apple Convention Summer Sizzler, June 24-25!
In celebration of the new movie Superman Returns, the Big Apple Convention, New York’s longest-running comic book/sci-fi-fantasy/pop-culture expo, will be having a Super Sunday of special deals, giveaways, and events!
On Sunday, June 25, the second day of the convention, all kids 12 and under will get in free, and get a free toy! All attendees will also get a free Superman comic book! In addition, noted Superman artist and writer Jerry Ordway will be present for a Q&A panel, to sign autographs, and meet Super fans. Also, ten pairs of tickets to Superman Returns at IMAX 3D will be given away throughout the day.
The Big Apple Convention is located at the Penn Plaza Pavilion, 33rd St & 7th Ave in Manhattan, NYC, across from Madison Square Garden. General admission is $10.
The Big Apple Convention will also be host to scores of other comic book notables, including: Golden age legends Joe Simon (who, with Jack Kirby, created Captain America), and Irwin Hasen (Dondi, Green Lantern), comic book scholar Dr. William Foster III, and classic and cutting edge artists Joseph Michael Linser (Cry for Dawn, Frank Brunner (Creepy, Howard the Duck, Dr. Strange) Billy Tucci (Shi), Rich Buckler, Alex Saviuk, Michael Lark, Michael Lilly, Damion Scott, Ivan Brandon, Andy MacDonald, Rodney Ramos, Jim Keueger, Guy Dorian and more!
Other guests of the convention will include Steven Seagal (Above the Law, Under Siege), who will be performing with his band Saturday evening, ‘Rowdy’ Roddy Piper (WWE Wrestling, They Live), Matthew Wood – (Star Wars "General Grievous"), Kathy Garver (A Family Affair), Robert Vaughn (Superman Returns, The Man from U.N.C.L.E), Michael Bailey Smith (The Hills Have Eyes 2006, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Charmed) , Tony Moran (Michael Myers from Halloween), Steve Dash (Original Jason from Friday 13th), “Luscious” Johnny Valiant (WWE Wrestler), Captain Lou Albano (WWE Wrestler), Big Kev (Opie and Anthony show) and many more to be announced.
Numerous panels, screenings, events and giveaways will be happening throughout the weekend, including the always amazing Costume Contest hosted by Captain Zorikh and Jolie Voltaire (as featured on Comedy Central) on Saturday, with many special prizes. There will be over 100 dealers of comics, toys, art, and other collectibles.
