SupermanTV.net Forum / Superman / Lois and Clark / Dean Cain on Smallville

Yes well the Smallville Lex is a pretty smart cookie but not a scientific genius that's all. Think about it when have you ever seen a brilliant scientist make a great businessman. If you are thinking along the lines of Bill Gates then I don't think that he counts because it does take a lot of brains to have create such an IT empire but how well does he do in the other scientific fields,i.e. physics, biology, etc, ..... This what I mean about the contemporary Lex as opposed to the classical Lex because I know that it is comic land but it just isn't possible to steal some of the things that he needs to build his equipment he would still need money. I guess that the classical Lex could actually work better now then in the past because all he would need to do is raid bank accounts online to get his money for his evil toys.

From TV Guide due May 15th

Interview with Dean Cain

Q: Speaking of rumors, is it true that "Smallville" wanted you to come on?

A: I met with those guys, but for another project. As far as I know, they've never asked me to do "Smallville". I like the show. I think it's completely different from the [character's] history, so I don't consider it a "Superman show." The guy doesn't wear the suit. And you can't be Superman if you don't wear the suit.

Q: And this summer, we'll have a new Superman...

A: Good luck to Bryan Singer and Brandon Routh... for me, I'm actually happy that "Superman Returns" is coming out so the mantle will be passed to somebody else.

Q: But in a bar fight, who's got it? You, Tom Welling or Brandon Routh?

A: I would never bet against myself in a bar fight.

Grab the May 15th edition of the TV Guide magazine to read the complete interview.

Yeah I saw that exert from the interview elsewhere. I am wondering what they have in mind for him, maybe a new lead role in a new tv series for him, maybe a new Macgyver. Now that would be great to see and it would be great to see him make an appearance on Smallville too. Hey Tim, what do you think about all of his comments. I think that he will appear sometime towards then end of the series because it only has a limited shelf life otherwise they will overlap the tv show with the movies. I think that with him being the only living man to have played the role then it is his mantle to pass to Brandon. I also think that he is right about it not being a superman series because it is about a teenage Clark and the character will not become superman until years later. I also think that without the suit then he is just an above average Joe with superpowers. In the barfight comment then it is safe to say that all thre are about the same weight but Tom and Brandon would have a slight reach advantage. I think that he is right about not betting against himself because I like to think along the lines of old age and craftiness will beat youth and skill.

What makes the show cool is he shows how he is already Superman without the suit!

I reckon that is a great idea. Maybe they can bring him as a parrallel future of Clark Kent. Where He comes to Clark rescue as Superman. And maybe he can teach him some truth and justice and the real meaning of becoming of superman (protecting the weak..etc) Instead of chasing the next romantic interest. Yea,it will be fun to show this Smallville hickies the real superman.
