I remember that scene. Luthor had some sort of man eating creature in a big hole.
There's one scene on Superman the movie I'm positive was deleted and I don't think it's on the dvd. I'll have to check again, but there's one scene where Superman gets in front of one of the missiles and it goes around him in the middle of the air. He gets a funny look on his face and chaces after it again. __________________ |

It's hard to guess. Originally way back when I was a kid on the first airing of Superman the movie and Superman II on TV they added a bunch of scenes to get more air time and a little more money.
After the first or second airings though they went back to shorter versions of the movies. Course you can see a lot of deleted scenes on the new dvds they've released like Superman the movie Superman 2 The Richard Donner Cut has lots of finished and never before seen scenes. It's actually just a hair shorter than the original Superman 2 due to all the cutting of scenes to create Donner's vision. Superman III and Superman IV Deluxe editions are supposed to have additional scenes as well. I would love to see the ABC tv versions one more time just for nostalgia's sake. I just know there is a couple of scenes in there lost to any dvd set. __________________ |

| I recently bought the original superman movie on dvd from my local supermarket. It is the theatrical release and I must say that there is at least 15 minutes of footage cut from the unedited version that I have seen on tv from time to time. I have watched many different altered versions of this movie and to see this one it is very noticable in picking up on the 20 or 30 seconds of deleted material to the 90 to 120 seconds of deleted material in some places. I much prefer uncut versions when movies get released to dvd and I think they should do the same with SR. | ||

I agree I like most uncut versions when we are talking about like Superman movies. I'm not crazy about the new trend for unrated versions that are excuses to add unknown unrated material that you might let your kid watch.
By for the most part I like movies like Superman to be complete as possible. When you've seen the original extended TV versions of Superman it kind of gives a choppy feel when you see the shorter version. Can never get enough Superman movie scenes anyway. __________________ |
