While everyone is fretting about the Routh casting as Superman, allow me to offer this topic: what does everyone think about Kevin Spacey as Lex Luthor, or Kate Bosworth as Lois Lane? Personally, I am more concerned about Spacey playing the greatest supervillian as he always does... as Kevin Spacey acting as himself but calling himself whatever his character's name is.  I feel that Smallville buffs should be more miffed that Michael Rosenbaum has not been cast as Lex Luthor, who is perfect in that complex role, than that Tom Welling, who is adequate as pubescent Clark Kent, has not been cast as Superman.

I personally like Kevin Spacey as Lex Luthor because he played a very cool, calculating killer in Seven and I think he is a very good choice. Michael is a good young Lex but doesn't have a mature enough face for the adult Lex. I reckon Kate will do alright as Lois and don't know who the other choices were anyhow. Besides not all of us have a problem with Brandon as Clark/Superman. I think he pretty much looks the part in height, weight, physique and facially.

I don't know enough about Brandon yet so I'm still waiting before final judgement. Rosenbaum is awesome as Lex no doubt about it. It wouldn't have hurt my feelings if he was cast in the movie. Spacey I just don't know about. I saw Seven, but it was a long time ago.

i think it would of been cool sense there continueing the story from superman 2 five or 6 years later why couldnt they use gene hackman as a old lex because in most of supe storys superman he dont age very fast so he would be younger than lex let me know what you guys/girls thank.

you know.....i really didnt like gene hackman as lex luthor, like...at all, i dunno about kevin spacey, but id rather have him then gene hackman

After taking a look  at bluetights.net and seeing the, Kevin as Lex, I think he will be very good in the role. My only problem with their casting is Frank Langella as Perry White because he is way too tall for that role, I mean he stands about 6'6". Therefore it wouldn't have mattered if they used Tom or Brandon because Perry is going to be taller Superman probably for the first time in Superman history. If anyone is wondering how I know the height of Frank it is because his height is the reason they cast him for the role of Skeletor in the Masters of the Universe movie back in the 80's so as to be about the same height as Dolph Lundgren if not the same physique.

Does anyone else think they chose Kevin Spacey as Lex Luthor because he looks like a young Gene Hackman when he has his head shaved. When he has hair there is very little resemblance between the two I think.

marie, the casting of kevin spacey as lex luthor would have 2 be the 3rd worst decision they made next 2 bryan singer doing superman returns rather than xmen 3 and the obviously not well thought out casting choice of the new superman.

i agree, there could always be someone better, but we are stuck with what we got. im sure it could be worse.  im just going to deal with it because its not like i can change the directors, producers or casting directors mind at this point.  but hey i can complain all i want so ill speak my mind and say the casting sucks and the movie looks like garbage.  im gonna watch it anyways

i read in this site (supermantv.net) that Vin Diesel was considering the role of lex luthor and i think he would have been great.  He has all the elements of a Lex Luthor: big and strong, a darkness to him, evil, good facial expressions (because the look on your face says more than your mouth), hes slightly comical in a bad guy way, and hes already bald!

kal, im  not saying im not gonna watch it but its fun have a go at the bad decisions in movies.

LONG LIVE THE TRUE SUPERMAN, CHRISTOPHER REEVES

Reeve. No S. Ok guys...Spacey is the best actor for this role! Who would honestly prefer Vin Diesel? I am stoked that Spacey even agreed to do something like this (being an Inside the Actors Studio type). He'll play (hopefully) a more serious Lex. As much as I love Hackman, a villian powerful enough to contend with Superman should not be the comic relief in the film. Let's let that be Bizarro in Superman 6!

I guess I can see Kevin Spacey as Lex Luthor. He has already done the bald part in another movie.

After seeing the new trailer I am very sure that they made the right choice in Kevin Spacey as Lex Luthor because his brilliance as an actor looks to have given him the ability to do an excellent job in the role.

I liked Kevin as Lex he plays a great evil person because when he wants his way he was sweet but you just waited until the layer of sugar quickly melted off so he could show his true colours. Kate was very good as Lois, Frank was better than Glenn as Perry and Sam was great as Jimmy. Sam played Jimmy not quite as annoying as Mark did and that was great as far I am concerned. I still didn't see the shots of Hugh Jackman as Jonathan Kent but I am guessing the dvd version will have either be longer or the deleted scenes will be on the second disc.
