Perhaps Superman Returns will not be the cash cow I thought it would turn out to be!! Check out this article by Roger Friedman from foxnews.com.
Looks like our ignorant screen writers are not getting Warner Brothers their big payoff!!

'Superman' Struggling
"Superman Returns" is struggling at the box office.
The $300 million extravaganza has earned only $48 million since opening with sneak previews on Tuesday night.
What's even more alarming for Warner Bros is that the take for the last two days rather than increasing has dropped. This may mean that word of mouth is not positive.
The three full days of release are now $21 million, $11 million and $16 million.
At this rate "Superman Returns" will be lucky to clear $100 million by the end of the holiday weekend. __________________
The Bible is so powerful. It's not to be left on your shelf. It's to outline even the simplest scriptures that can mean so much in building yourself up.
"I am God's workmanship." (Ephesians 2:10)
"I have been redeemed and forgiven." (Colossians 1:14)
"I am the salt and the light of the earth." (Matthew 5:13-14)
Wow! ONLY $48 million dollars? I would be happy with just one million myself.
I know when I saw it Saturday afternoon, the theatre was not full. But it was very funny, people were having a good time.
The only problem I see is that toward the end, the movie slows down a lot. Couldn't Superman have just quickly gotten up from that crater?
Oh, yeah, how did he move that huge land mass if the kryptonite was affecting him? Oh, well, it still makes more sense than making the Earth spin backwards....

It's probably because he's from around these parts, but it's sold out in most theaters in Des Moines.

I think the poor plot and the dark depressing look probably had something to do with it struggleing. Wal-Mart has a lot of Superman Returns merchantdise, and nobody is buying it.

I heard that because superman returns did not do so well at the box office there will not be a sequel.
It has to gross over 300 million (right now its around 250 million)for a sequel to be made, and IF they make a sequel it will surely not have as many CGI special effects in it.
So get out there and see it again!

I heard it has to make over 200 million but I don't know if that counts foreign and domestic or just domestic. I'm sure it would be possible to create both a much more action packed movie and cheaper as well.
Sometimes the artistic vision of the director and producer in the form of elaborate sets can really bring up the price tag when in the end the action is the most important part for the average Superman or comic book fan. __________________

I think that they will try to break even at the box-office and will easily make up any shortfalls when it hits dvd later in the year. I know for a fact that a lot of people don't go to see it at the cinema because they just get a pirated version on dvd and watch that instead. I have seen it 3 times already and the more I see the more I like it and where they are going with storyline.

I am quite sure that they will make a sequel because I have read online that Superman Returns is sitting at number 212 on the overall worldwide boxoffice takings. Superman The Movie is in the top 100 but they are the only two superman movies to make it onto the list. It has made almost $250m worldwide and is still going quite strong in the USA and most other countries where it has been to released so far. I think they will make a small profit with it at the boxoffice but will double their money when it gets released to dvd in that 14 disc boxset later in the year, around late November early December I think.

Well despite my disagreements with the writers attitude toward patriotism I'll be buying the dvd set.
I have hopes that a series of Superman movies will continue to improve with each movie. Superman Returns set up a lot of things, maybe the next movie will really deliver the goods. __________________
I think that Singer has already indicated in an interview that he will elaborate on some of the shortcomings with regards to the storyline with this movie. So Tim what kind of money do think they will make out of that big boxset?, 1 million sets in the USA and another 1 million worldwide at $600 a set should make them plenty of cash.

Holy cow 600 hundred dollars a set! Are you sure it's that expensive. I guess I'll have to go with the regular dvd set then.
I don't know, how many people can afford 600 dollars.
I do look forward to Superman Returns pulling a King Kong. Old ape face broke records with dvd sales where as box office ticket sales were just ok.
Superman is the kind of movie you buy to watch over and over again. So it has that in it's favor. Comic collectors alone will help dvd sales not to mention the people buying their kids something to watch. __________________
Well what do the Smallville and Lois and Clark season dvd sets cost over there? I managed to pick up Lois and Clark season 1 & 2 in the supermarket a couple of weeks ago for $40 each. The Smallville season dvd sets cost $120 for the more recent seasons and about $85-$90 for the frist two seasons. Anyhow I won't mind paying $600 for a 14 disc boxset that is bound to have a lot of extra footage from probably most of the movies and shows that are in the set. I am hoping that someone will have found the edited footage from S4 the scenes about the first nuclear man that Lex tried to create because that might make it a little bit more like the rest of the series, you know longer and with better superman battle scenes.

Well that means that the U.S. prices are about half of what I am paying over here in Australia. I guess the extra money is for "import costs or something" because the Australian dollar isn't that weak against the U.S. dollar right now. I hope that isn't the case with the huge boxset because that wouldn't be nice to have to pay $1200 for it. I mean $600 is fine by me but $1200 is a bit much so here is hoping for that is doesn't cost that much.
