SupermanTV.net Forum / Superman / Superman Returns Movie / Superman Returns excellent 2nd time

hi. after i saw superman returns the 1st time, i thought it was good but not great and i was a little disappointed. there were a few scenes that were cut that i was looking forward to like in the trailer where martha says:"your father always said you were put here for a reason." and she was also supposed to have a gentleman friend and that scene was cut out too. another scene was one where clark goes into the storm cellar and sees 5 years worth of daily planets and sees all the disasters that he wasn't there to help with. anyway, i was so pumped up for the movie and i spent so much time wondering why the scenes were deleted i never really enjoyed the movie and as a result i was disappointed. but, about 4 days later i went again knowing what to expect and i was blown away. it was awesome. i thought all the performances were great. brandon routh was very good ( although a few more clark kent scenes woulda been nice but i'm sure there will be in part two)kate bosworth was fine albeit different than margot kidder.she toned it down a bit to make the character more believable and not so comic bookie and i thought she pulled it off. all in all it was pretty good. a few more scenes between clark and his mother woulda been good and a few more klutzy clark scenes mighta been nice but hey... it was already 2 hours and 37 mins so what do you want?? for anyone who was a little disappointed... i urge you to see it a second time and just forget all the comparisons to the first movies. you may realize what a good movie it is.

Yes, I agree Zod99 there was alot of scenes on the trailers that were not in the movie. I was disapointed on that as well. The movie was long and if it was 3 hours maybe they could have shown all the missing footage from the trailers. From Superman ship looking thru whats left of krypton too his ship making it's way to Earth. We can all hope maybe Singer will add all the footage in the DVD or at least deleted scenes. On opening weekend I saw the first showing of Superman Returns with a friend after that I saw it again with my brother and his fam and my mom later that same day. I wanted to see it with my niece and nephews. It was alot better. It didn't feel like it was 2 hours and 30 somthing minutes. In all I LOVED it and I can't wait until it's on DVD. So give it a chance and just be happy that Superman is on the big screen again!

Strong. Powerful. Invincible. Superman is a hero worth looking up too, and to find him. We need only...Look up in the sky.

Yeah, there was a lot that was good about this movie, especially the humorous references to the first movie.

And Kate Bosworth was awesome and wonderful as Lois Lane!

I like it more the second time around too and you can see that it is a Bryan Singer directed movie by the way it ended. I mean he did the same sort of endings with X-Men 1 & 2 in which he pretty much says that there is much more to come with the sub-plots that he has established. I think the next one will be a bit more of a love story like S2 and I think that it will more about Clark getting Lois to notice HIM and not superman just like the tv series of Lois and Clark. That way it will be easier for him to tell her the truth and step up to the mark in the role of Jason's father. I wonder if the Lex will have some help trying to destroy him, maybe Brainiac or Doomsday or Darksied.

yup i think it's agreeable 2, but you know, sometimes they cut out good parts cause the think they have better parts to put in. anyway you were right Zodd99 they should've left those parts in especially the one on the 5 yrs. worth of news papers on bad things happening to the world while he was gone![smirk]

I am up to 4 times and I want to see it more times because I am trying to see the dates on the newspapers because apparently the movie is supposed to flow over a couple of months. I saw the date on the newspaper when they were anticipating whether he lived or died which was September 26 2006 but I couldn't quite catch the date when they were all in the elevator reading about his rescue of the plane near the start of the movie but I will get it if I watch it enough times.
