Since the Joker has been given unusual abilities by members of the Q continuum, he is able to create illusions and scenarios inside Clark's mind. The only way for Clark to get out is to play along.
First, Clark had to contend with an out-of-control bus filled with odd characters. In this situation, the Joker attempted to destroy his mind.
After that, Clark had to work alongside various space heroes to prevent something called the Nexus from reaching Earth (which actually represented an attempt by the Joker to take control of Clark's mind). In each case, Clark was successful in preventing the destruction or takeover of his mind.
Now Clark finds himself aboard the “Enterprise” in another bizarre situation.

“CLARK, ENTERPRISE, BATMAN, JOKER”
PART OF THE SMALLVILLE/STARGATE/STAR TREK SAGA
“What is this?” Clark asked aloud. Oh, yeah. Like the Joker would just tell him.
No, but someone else would.
“That's a bunch of Klingons with Captain Kirk and Spock. And the two guys in costumes are Batman and Robin.”
Clark turned and found Daniel Jackson. Or at least a representation of Daniel created by his mind. Daniel was one of Clark's recent friends from his time travel work with SG-1.
Clark watched as Batman kicked and punched the Klingons. As he did, giant words appeared. “BAM!” “POW!”
Clark shook his head. “I've met versions of Batman. This doesn't seem right.”
“It's not,” Daniel said quietly. “There was a T-V series in the nineteen-sixities on Earth Prime. It was a show where Batman wasn't taken seriously. It was basically a comedy. Batman was, more or less, a joke.”
“Figures the Joker would like it,” Clark mumbled. “That's his thing: seeing Heroes demeaned.”
“Well, you're right about that, Clark,” Daniel said. “Oddly, he also liked Lex Luthor as a comic villain in 'Superman: The Movie.' In many ways, that movie was a comedy, too.” A slight pause. “Good Smallville sequences, though.”
“Glad to hear it,” Clark said. “Maybe we'll watch it later when I get out of here.”
“I like your optimism, Clark,” Daniel said as he glanced around. “You're going to need it to deal with all this.”
Clark observed two other figures. One in green. Question marks all over his green bodysuit. The other was a woman in shiny black. The dark mask she wore was like a mask you would see at a masquerade ball. On top of her head were pointed cat ears.
“That's the Riddler and Catwoman,” Daniel explained before Clark even asked. “An actress named Lee Meriwether played Catwoman in a movie based on the T-V show. She also played a character on 'Star Trek' who created cellular disruption by touching a person. Then she could turn into a small black line and disappear. When she did that, she was able to transport herself great distances.”
“The Joker making his weird connections again,” Clark said. Briefly, he watched as Kirk and Spock fought Klingons alongside Batman and Robin. “And what's the basic situation, Daniel?”
Daniel explained in a cool calm voice. “This is an episode of 'Star Trek' where some very powerful beings were manipulating Captain Kirk and his crew into fighting Klingons. A fight that would never end.”
“That's right.” At Clark's left was Leonard Hofstadter. Another recent friend from his time travel adventures, Leonard sported Clark Kent glasses as he narrated pleasantly. “The Klingons and the humans would kill each other and then be brought back to life.”
“It was the only time a female Klingon appeared in the series.” Pressed up against the wall next to Leonard, Sheldon Cooper—tall, lanky and nervous-looking—glanced around anxiously..
Leonard made a face. “Is that important, Sheldon?”
“I find it interesting.” Sheldon looked at Clark. “The important thing is, Clark, they were fighting each other and they'd die and they'd be brought back to life.”
“Thanks, guys,” Daniel said. “Yeah, Clark, the conflict continued for quite a while. Like Leonard and Sheldon were saying, they'd kill each other and be brought back to life. Until finally they agreed to stop fighting. And the beings manipulating them lost their power.”
“There's a reason they lost their power, Clark,” Leonard said. “The beings would feed off feelings of anger and violence.”
“They'd feed off conflict basically,” Daniel said.
“Not very appetizing, I'm sure,” Sheldon said.
“Good to know, guys,” Clark said.
Next to Daniel, J'onn J'onzz leaned over. :”This is good, Clark. You're bringing in people who are familiar and helpful. People from your recent past. This will help you adjust back to your temporary time travel situation.” He gestured to the area around them. “For now, do what you can to make this illusion seem more normal, more real.”
“I'll do what I can,” Clark said. As he surveyed the scene, he wince-frowned. “Why does the Riddler have a face that's half-black, half-white?”
“It's a kind of amalgam, Clark,” Daniel said in a hushed whisper. “You see, an actor named Frank Gorshin played the Riddler on the nineteen-sixties 'Batman' T-V series.”
“He also played a half-white half-black character on 'Star Trek,'” Leonard said.
“The episode called 'Let That Be Your Last Battlefield,'” Sheldon added.
“So it's just the Joker making one of his weird associations or weird connections,” Clark surmised aloud. “Again.”
“Yeah, the Joker does that,” Leonard said as he made a face.
“The Joker is very strange,” Sheldon said, shaking his head.
First, Leonard gave Sheldon a brief skeptical look. Then, turning to Clark, he whispered,. “Coming from Sheldon, that says a lot.”
“The character Frank Gorshin played on 'Star Trek' was prejudiced toward anyone who had black and white on the opposite sides of the face.” Daniel gestured to his own face.
“Figures,” Clark sighed. “That's what prejudice is like.” He ducked as a “BAM!” came dangerously close to his head. “You know, Daniel, it sounds like this 'Star Trek' presented some interesting ideas.”
“It did, Clark,” Daniel said.
“Yeah, it sure did,” Leonard said with a smile.
“You bet it did,” Sheldon said.
Clark smiled. “Thanks for your help, guys. Good to see you again.”
“Same here, buddy,” Daniel said, giving him a pat on the arm.
“Glad to help, Clark,” Leonard said. “As always.”
Sheldon clasped his hands over his lanky frame. “Don't worry, Clark. You're very bright. In your own way, of course.” He lifted his chin slightly. “It goes without saying you're not as smart as me. But still. Bright in your own way.”
“Thanks, Sheldon. I think.” A puzzled wince from Clark followed.
As his friends faded away, Clark had an idea. He knew two people who could help in this situation.
As Clark concentrated, Jonathan and Martha appeared in the middle of the battle.
“Whoa, whoa, whoa!” Jonathan said with a little laugh. “Listen here. You fellows need to stop all this.”
Martha spoke with her usual stern pleasantness. “Jonathan's right. You need to stop fighting and start working together.”
Batman addressed a very tall Klingon. “This lovely wise woman is right. Robin and I fight in the interests of justice.”
“Justice is fine,” Martha said. “But here you're just part of a game.”
“Martha's right,” Jonathan said. “Can't you fellows see you're being goaded into fighting each other?”
“Holy manipulation, Batman!”
“Quite right, old chum. Violence can be most counterproductive. Especially in this situation.”
Clark recalled earlier the two sides would fight then break out into '60's style dancing. Like on an old TV show called “Laugh-In.” In this situation, a great Hero like Batman looked absolutely ridiculous.
But that's what the Joker does, Clark thought. He demeans Heroes. Captain Kirk. Spock. Batman. (Especially Batman.) And he's even managed to demean me, Clark thought glumly.
In this current demeaning situation, Captain Kirk looked like he was wearing too much eye makeup. “You're quite right, Batman. Spock and I are like you and Robin. We're peaceful explorers. We only fight when we have to defend ourselves.”
“Yet battle is no mere game,” Spock said with grim stoicism. “Nor should killing others be a cause for sport or enjoyment.”
“Wise and noble sentiments, Captain Kirk and Spock,” Batman said, bending one leg slightly as he spoke.
“Now stop fighting,” Martha ordered..
“If you do that, things will be a lot better,” Jonathan laughed.
And Clark was out of there!
Mainly because the roof of the corridor disappeared, and there was a giant Joker who reached down and grabbed Clark like he was an action figure.
Then Clark was somewhere else. He had not willed himself there. Where was the Joker sending him now?
Clark looked up and saw what looked like a giant white structures made of diagonal lines. A giant ice castle.
A blond woman in a white toga smiled at him.
“Kal-El, are you all right?” she asked with a little laugh.
“This is Krypton,” Clark realized aloud. “But it exploded.”
The woman laughed. “Oh, Kal-El. Don't be ridiculous. Of course it didn't.” With a light laugh, she spread out her hands. “After all, here we are.”
“This isn't real,” Clark insisted.
Now the woman looked concerned. She placed a hand on Clark's arm. “Kel-El, my son, are you sure you're all right?”
Clark gave her a look. “'Son?' Then you must be.....”
The look of concern grew deeper as she reached up to stroke his hair.
“Kal-El, you've been suffering from amnesia. So once again, this is Krypton. Your home. And I'm your mother, Lara.”
“No,” Clark said as he looked around. “Krypton exploded. You died.”
Again, Lara laughed. “Well, I hope not.” But then she looked sad..
With fists clenched, Clark shouted up at the sky. “This won't work, Joker. You hear me? I know your game by now. You create some nice pleasant world for me, and I'm just supposed to live in it and take it nice and easy. Well, I'm not buying it.”
“Why wouldn't you stay here, Clark?” someone asked.
It was Lana. She was dressed as a Kryptonian.
“You can have your original home back. And we can be together.”
At first, Clark cautiously reached out his hand. But then he remembered the creature behind the disguise. As he did, he slowly backed away. Then he turned away.
With fist raised, Clark did a super-leap and headed for the largest central part of the giant ice castle.
As he sailed through the air, other figures leaped out at him. They shouted protests, tried to grab him, attempted to block his way. Doomsday. Milton Fine/Brainiac. Zod and the Kandorians.
Ignoring them all, Clark dove into the center of the ice castle and brought his fist down. As the structure shattered, tiny white splinters went flying.
And then Clark fell.
“Uff!” he groaned.
As he plopped down in a chair, Clark found he was in a straitjacket, surrounded by strange figures. Odd-looking characters walking around while mumbling incoherently.
“WELCOME TO BELLE REVE!” the Joker said in a shrill voice.
Next to Clark, J'onn J'onzz spoke in an earnest serious voice, with a facial expression to match.
“Clark, you've done well so far. You got everyone off the bus. You stopped the Nexus from reaching Earth. You helped resolve the conflict on the 'Enterprise.'”
“Now what?” Clark asked.
J'onzz became even more serious. “Here your assignment is slightly different. You have to get all these people out of Belle Reve and over to Luthorcorp.”
Clark looked around at the mumbling masses.
As quantum-leaper Sam Beckett would say: Oh, boy!
