Biography
John Schneider first came to fame as Bo Duke. A show I personally grew up watching. John Richard Schneider was born April 8,1960 in Mt. Kisco, NY. John began acting at the age of eight. He was in many plays in New York. He and his mother moved to Atlanta, GA when he was fourteen. He got involved in the local theater and was in many local productions. He had a small part in Smokey and the Bandit (1977) starring Burt Reynolds. His break came when he auditioned for the Dukes of Hazzard pretending he was a country boy from Snellville, Georgia.

The show lasted from 1979-1985 and was a huge success with Duke products everywhere. He also became a popular country star with hits like "I've Been Around Enough To Know" and "Country Girls". He is the co-founder of the Children's Miracle Network charity organization, along with Marie Osmond.

After the Dukes he starred or guest starred in quite a few TV series like Walker Texas Ranger and JAG.
He starred on Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman with Jane Seymour, who did a few guest shots on Smallville in season 4. He even played Michael Landon (Little House on the Prairie, Highway to Heaven, & Bonanza star)  on a TV movie called "Michael Landon, the Father I Knew". While filming Smallville he also did  work on the WB cartoon " The Mummy".  Never completely done with the Dukes role of Bo Duke, Schneider did two reunion movies and fellow Duke, Tom Wopat even guest starred on an episode of Smallville, "Exposed".  References to the Dukes were thrown in from time to time on Smallville even the Dukes theme song was played on the episode "Nicodemus"

John Schneider fits the role perfectly as Jonathan Kent, father of Superman, with the conservative and wise country-father attitude he brings the character. Not everyone could be believable as the dad who raises an American legend, but John Schneider does it well.
