What if Jor-El on
Smallville Was Really Zod?
|

|
I'm not relating just
to the fact that Superman 2's Terence Stamp, who played the evil Zod
for the first two movies, is portraying Jor-El or at least his voice
on Smallville. What if this whole time Jor-El was really Zod playing
pranks on Clark from the Phantom Zone? What a shocker that would
turn out to be, and yet it would fit so perfectly to have Terence
Stamp reclaim his role as Zod!

Perhaps Zod's ultimate plan of
revenge is to use Clark to escape the Phantom Zone and gain control of
Earth. Could the writers of Smallville be holding this back for a large
season finale some time in the future? The movie Jor-El did speak to Clark
through the crystals, but there was no cave in the movie. Could this whole
Smallville Jor-El storyline be a completely new wrinkle in the Superman
legend? One that includes a early confrontation with Zod.
Terence Stamp has been portraying the voice of
Jor-El on Smallville since the episode Calling
way back in season
two. Ever since then he's been pulling Clark's chain. In the
episode Exile
Jonathan makes a deal with Jor-El to bring Clark back from Metropolis. The
temporary gain of super powers gives Jonathan a heart condition. Jor-El
doesn't do anything that doesn't suit his purposes or ultimately cause
trouble for the Kents. All the way through Jor-El seems intent on
Clark ruling the world. World domination has never been on Jor-El's must
do list in his previous incarnations. That's always been something for Zod
and the rest of the Phantom Zone villains. On
the Fifth season Clark finds the Fortress of Solitude while a couple of
Kryptonians arrive in Smallville. Apparently, they landed in the ship in
front of Lana Lang in the season finale Commencement

Season Premiere description and pics

Here's the weird thing
Jor-El has appeared evil almost since the beginning, but now he wants
Clark to save the world in the season premiere. At the same time evil
Kryptonians are running around. Are these guys possibly related to Zod
somehow? If Jor-El did turn out to be Zod trying to control things
from the Phantom Zone it would explain Jor-El's attitude, but then it
wouldn't quite fit into the framework of the Superman Movie where
Jor-El is a part of the Fortress of Solitude at least through the
crystals.

Of course the idea
that Kryptonians are cold emotionless beings was introduced in
the 1980's John Byrne Superman comic book revamp. His Krypton was a
machine like sterile environment with little love or compassion.
Could this be the reason Jor-El is so much different from the wise
loving father portrayed in Superman the movie by Marlon Brando? |

My fellow Smallville fans This is may be no fantasy - no careless product of wild imagination. No, my friends. These indictments that I have brought to you today, specific charges herein against the
so-called Jor-El. His acts of treason, and ultimate aim of sedition
against the Kents. These....are matters of undeniable fact. I ask you now to pronounce
judgment on the accused.
Is Jor-El really Zod!? I hope so, he was one of my all time
favorite villains. Voice
your opinion on the board!

I
leave you with these wonderful words of encouragement from Zod. "You will bow down before me,
Jorel!... both you and one day your heir!" "Come to me son of Jorel! Kneel before Zod!" "Come to me Superman if you dare! I defy you! Come... come and kneel before Zod.
ZOD!"
