News: Why Ratner Left Superman & Latest
Updates
Posted August 18,
2003
Director
Brett Ratner explains why he left Superman..
He says, "Jon Peters is a pain in the butt, but
he's not the reason I quit the project. I quit
because (the studio and Peters) didn't want to hire
an unknown to play Superman, and no name actors
wanted to sign on for a three-picture deal...
"I loved Superman growing up, and I really
wanted to make the film, but it was too hard a thing
to get off the ground." There was also recent
word that they were working on a set for the new
film on the Warner Bros. studio lot. We can confirm
that this is correct, as well that McG indeed looks
to be back on the project. Meanwhile, it still
looks like Matthew Bomer is trying out for the role
- which if he gets it, would contradict the
'unknown' bit in Ratner's quote above. from

New Movie
for Kristin
Posted August
12, 2003
Kristin (Lana) is on board in Dreamworks "The
Ugly Americans." She is on cast with Michelle
Trachtenberg from Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Matt Damon (The
Bourne Identity) , with Xena star, Lucy Lawless. This
will be her first movie on the big screen. This movie is
described to be a cross between Bringin Down the House
and American Pie. So The Ugly Americans will

Rutger
Hauer Swoops into 'Smallville'
(Tuesday, August 05 08:40 AM)
LOS ANGELES (Zap2it.com) - Professional bad guy Rutger Hauer
will bring his malevolent ways to "Smallville" in
the coming season. The Dutch-born actor, who's played evil
in films ranging from "Blade Runner" to the "Buffy
the Vampire Slayer" feature film, will guest-star in
two episodes of "Smallville" this season. He'll
play a crime boss, according to The Hollywood Reporter Hauer
will become one of the more high-profile guests the teen
Superman series has welcomed in its two-plus seasons. Last
season, movie Superman Christopher Reeve played a scientist
who revealed some secrets to Clark Kent (Tom Welling) about
where he came from, and Terence Stamp, who played General
Zod in "Superman II," voiced Clark's biological
father, Jor-El. "Smallville," one of The WB's
highest-rated series, is moving to Wednesday nights in the
fall.

Superboy!!
Egg fight!

Posted
Aug 10, 2003
It's a bird, it's a
plane, its... flying breakfast food? We found Smallville's
Tom Welling up to his neck in eggs.
Thats in the September Issue of
Seventeen
Magazine, there is a small article on Tom Welling in which
he talks about his new movie Cheaper by the Dozen where he
plays Charlie Baker. In one scene, there's havoc at the
breakfast table and eggs go flying everywhere--I ended up
completely covered, " he says. "I haven't eaten
them since." “ Welling. Kryptonite brings Clark Kent
to his knees, but Tom Welling's toxic substance is stranger:
scrambled eggs. "In one scene, there's havoc at the
breakfast table and eggs go flying everywhere--I ended up
completely covered," he says. "I haven't eaten
them since." The food fight was part of his first
movie, Cheaper by the Dozen (also starring Hilary Duff and
due out in late December). Tom plays Charlie Baker, one of
the 12 farm kids who move to Chicago when their dad (Steve
Martin) becomes coach of a colle ge football team. Charlie's
torn between his small-town roots and his new fast paced
life in the metropolis. Sounds familiar-- but Tom swears the
role isn't a Clark rerun. "Charlie is slightly darker
and more mature than that other guy," says Tom. Besides
the egg fiasco, Charlie has to deal with big-city bullies
who stuff cornstalks in his locker (don't ask!). Life on the
set, however, is low-key -- Tom spends his off hours
shooting hoops with Steve Martin. "I'm just having
fun," he says. You don't need X-ray vision to see that.

Little bit more about score: SCORE (Spinal Cord

its roots in hockey. The organization was founded
in March 1999, when Sean Gjos was injured while
playing for the UCLA club ice hockey team. In
response to his injury, Sean's friends created
SCORE to assist Sean and others like him who
suffered spinal cord injuries.
SCORE fills a unique space in the spinal cord
injury community by focusing its grants and
activities on young athletes who incur a spinal
cord injury while participating in sports and by
funding emerging researchers involved with

Alfred
Gough
Talks Smallville
Posted
July 29,
2003
Post-Gazette
talked to Smallville
executive
producer
Alfred
Gough
about the
series'
score and
season
3...
One
of the
best moves
in the
second
season of
"Smallville"
was the
decision
to use the
John
Williams
"Superman"
theme in
key
mythology-building
scenes of
the
series.
Executive
producer
Alfred
Gough said
producers
got lucky
they could
afford to
use the
theme.
"It
was
recorded
in England
and it was
much
easier to
get
because
you don't
have to
pay as
much in
royalties,"
Gough
said.
"If
it was
recorded
in L.A.,
you have
to pay
every
musician
who worked
on it.
That's why
so many
movie
scores are
recorded
overseas.
That was a
lucky
break for
us. We
said, 'Be
prepared
to do the
version
that won't
get you
sued.'"
In
addition
to
continuing
to grow
the
mythology
of young
Clark
Kent's
story,
Gough
said, the
third
season
will first
have to
clean up
the mess
from the
season
finale,
which
showed a
red
Kryptonite-influenced
Clark (Tom
Welling)
riding a
motorcycle
to
Metropolis.
Season
three will
pick up
three
months
later and
will
introduce
a
character
from the
comics,
Morgan
Edge,
leader of
the
Metropolis
Intergang
crime
syndicate.
Unlikely
as it may
seem, Lex
Luthor
(Michael
Rosenbaum)
will
apparently
survive
the season
finale
plane
crash.
"Most
people
don't
survive
tornadoes
either,"
Gough
said,
referring
to the
first
season
finale.
Although
there has
been talk
of
introducing
young
Bruce
Wayne,
Gough said
that might
not happen
because
Warner
Bros.
plans
another
"Batman"
film.
Wannabe
reporter
Chloe
(Alison
Mack) will
continue
her
business
dalliance
with evil
Lionel
Luthor
(John
Glover).
"She
made a
deal with
the devil
out of
anger, and
we'll see
her having
to grapple
with
that,"
Gough
said.
"She
wants to
get out of
it and
gets
pulled
back in.
You'll see
how Lionel
turns the
screws on
her."
